Project Mexico Opens Registration for 2027 Homebuilding Program
Project Mexico has opened registration for its 2027 homebuilding program, offering early-registration incentives to Orthodox volunteers helping families in poverty.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Project Mexico has opened registration for its 2027 Homebuilding Program, inviting Orthodox Christians across the United States to volunteer for building homes for families living in extreme poverty.
The pan-Orthodox organization coordinates summer trips in which parish groups travel to Mexico to construct simple, durable, two-room homes over several days. Since the program began, volunteers have built more than 450 homes with the participation of approximately 17,000 people.
Last summer, 457 volunteers representing 21 states contributed 40,780 hours of work and built 21 homes for families in need. Project Mexico encourages prospective volunteers and group leaders to register early, noting that places often fill quickly.
Those who register before December 14, 2026, will receive a $100 credit toward their fundraising goal. The organization says early registration helps it plan its work and coordinate support for participating families.
In addition to its homebuilding initiative, Project Mexico operates residential care facilities. The organization invites both individuals and parish groups to take part in the 2027 program and help provide housing for families facing poverty.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Orthodox Christianity has taken root in northern Mexico.
