St. Sava Monastery will consecrate its restored St. Mardarije Spiritual and Cultural Center on November 14.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — St. Sava Monastery will host the consecration of the newly restored St. Mardarije Spiritual and Cultural Center on November 14, 2026, according to an announcement from the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of New Gračanica and Midwestern America.

Metr. Longin, Bp. Serafim, clergy, and faithful from across the diocese are expected to gather at the monastery for the event. The day will begin with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m., accompanied by a diocesan mass choir. The consecration of the center will follow the Liturgy, along with a flag-raising and ceremonial opening.

The restored building is being presented by the diocese as a continuation of the work of previous generations who built and maintained St. Sava Monastery, as well as of donors, volunteers, families, and parishes who supported the restoration project. The center is intended to serve the monastery and wider Serbian Orthodox community in the years ahead.

Following the ceremonies, the building will be open for guided tours of the center and monastery. The program will also include live tambura music, refreshments, a historical gallery and archives, a monastery bookstore, donor recognition, and information about the building and the 2027 camp program.

The announcement invited clergy, faithful, families, and others to attend the November 14 events and participate in the opening of the center.

Previously, the UOJ reported that the St. John the Forerunner Monastery katholikon was consecrated in Washington.
