Texas A&M Orthodox Christian Fellowship Launches Winter Orthodox Lecture Series
Texas A&M OCF will host a free three-part Orthodox lecture series this winter exploring faith, art, and the spiritual lessons of suffering.
COLLEGE STATION, TX — Texas A&M Orthodox Christian Fellowship will host a three-part lecture series this winter, offering the public an opportunity to explore spiritual wisdom, art, and the meaning of suffering in Christian life. All events will take place at the All Faiths Chapel, with parking at Northside Garage, and include light hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Admission is free.
The first lecture, Thursday, January 22 at 6 p.m., features Rev. Dr. John Strickland, pastor of St. Elizabeth Orthodox Church in Poulsbo, WA, speaking on Christianity vs. Paganism: Why Oppression Couldn't (and Shouldn't) Stop the Church.
The second lecture, Thursday, February 5 at 6 p.m., will have Rev. Dr. Anthony Gilbert of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Grand Rapids, MI, discussing The Stories We Tell: How Faith Forms Art. How Art Shapes Culture.
The series concludes Thursday, February 19 at 6 p.m. with Father Turbo Qualls of St. Mary of Egypt Serbian Orthodox Church in Kansas City, MO, presenting The Darkness of the Divine: The Universal & Sacred Language of Suffering.
