In Volyn Kiev Patriarchate destructs another UOC temple

In the village of Pechikhvosty in the Horokhov district, the Kiev Patriarchate has completely rebuilt in a modern style the seized ancient temple – a monument of cultural heritage, which is more than 300 years, reports a UOJ correspondent.

According to local residents, the repair work in the captured church has started recently. It is not known whether these actions are officially permitted or not.

"When we changed the windows in the church, we had to agree that in the district department of culture, and we even had to partially paint the glass on one of them, because the old window had a plywood fragment," said the former rector of the UOC church Father Victor Obdar.

After the seizure of the church by the Kiev Patriarchate, the priest served the Liturgy 10 months in one of Pechikhvosty houses at the invitation of the family of believers. Then he was transferred to another parish. What is happening in the church at the moment and if it is documented, no one can explain.

It is two years since the Holy Vvedensky Church of the UOC in the village of Pechikhvosty in Horokhov area was taken by the Kiev Patriarchate. The new owners have started repair work in the seized temple-monument lately. They have destructed the exterior of the monument of architecture. According to experts, this "renovation" is subject to Article 298 of the Criminal Code – on deliberate destruction or damage of the monuments-objects of cultural heritage.

The UOJ is looking forward to formal comments from representatives of the Department of Culture of the Horokhov DSA.
