Most Ukrainians consider themselves believers, – survey
4.1% of citizens consider themselves non-believers, 2.5% – devout atheists. 8.2% of respondents expressed indifference to religious issues, 6.3% found it difficult to answer.
According to the survey, the level of religiosity is regional in nature: 91% of residents of the West, 70% – of the Centre, 53% – of the East and 43% – of the South consider themselves believers.
According to a survey conducted by the Razumkov Centre, two-thirds of citizens (68.2%) consider themselves Orthodox, 1.0% of Ukrainians belong to the Roman Catholic Church, 7.8% – to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 0.8% – Protestants, 1.3% practice Judaism, 0.2% – Islam, 0.1% – Buddhism, 0.1% – Hinduism, about 0% – paganism, 7.0% consider themselves to be just Christians, 0.4 % profess other religions, 12.6% do not take themselves to any religious creeds, 0.6% of respondents refused to answer.
The study was conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Centre from March 3 to 9, 2017, in all regions of Ukraine, except for the occupied territories. 2016 respondents aged 18 years were interviewed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
