P – Professionals: “1+1” makes a mess with characters in its fresh video story against the UOC

“1+1” TV channel has fallen on its face again, having tried to release a story discrediting the UOC priests. As the UOJ correspondent found out, the channel’s journalists got confused in the photos of key characters of their video footage.

On May 27 in the program "Ukrainian sensations. In God's bosom," the TV channel showed a story about the fact that the wife of senior priest of St. Ilyinsky Church in Kyiv Vitaly Kosovsky allegedly owns a "luxury car park".

"His devout wife is called" Mother Tatiana ", says 10:05 a minute of the plot. However, instead of the spouse of protopriest Vitaly Kosovsky, the television channel showed a photo of hegumenia Seraphima (Shevchik), rector of the Holy Archangel Michael Monastery of Odessa.

In fact, the photo of hegumenia Seraphima as a wife of protopriest Vitaly Kosovsky is repeated in the story several times.

Mother Seraphima is a superioress, rector of Odessa Archangel Michael Monastery, chair of the Synodal Commission "Church and Culture" of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, at the age of 17 became a novice of Kiev Intercession Monastery. Four years later she became a nun, and in 1994 she took monastic vows in Odessa.

In 1995 she was appointed rector of Odessa Archangel Michael Monastery and was elevated to the rank of hegumenia. She holds the post of vice-chairman of the Committee on Spirituality and Culture, chair of the Synodal Commission "Church and Culture" of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Odessa City Council.

She founded the museum "Christian Odessa". She was appointed head of the historical and regional museum "Orthodox Ukraine" of Kyiv eparchy. Recognized as the best Christian journalist of 2006 (the award of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine) and received the "Woman of the Third Millennium" award (2007).

On the photo is hegumenia Seraphima (Shevchik).
