Faithful of seized UOC temples to join Via Dolorosa Procession in Jerusalem
In 2017, Ukrainian pilgrims also participated in the Via Dolorosa Procession in Jerusalem
On Good Friday night, April 5, the faithful of the UOC will take part in the annual large-scale Via Dolorosa Procession. As a UOJ correspondent reports, Metropolitan Anthony of Borispol and Brovary told the participants about this at the press conference "Easter: Procession in Jerusalem, Meeting of the Holy Fire and All Festive Events of the UOC".
About 300 faithful pilgrims of the UOC, praying for peace in Ukraine will depart from Gethsemane, enter the Old City through the Lions' Gate and follow the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrow) – the path that Jesus walked on the way to his crucifixion on Mount Calvary.
Believers from different parts of Ukraine, including those whose churches are currently seized, will participate in the religious procession. They will go in the front line and carry a large Cross and temple icons from those churches which were grabbed.
Pilgrims will pray that the Lord's mercy will protect the Ukrainian land from wars, strifes and schisms.
