MP: The transfer of St. Andrew’s church not to take long
People's Deputy of Ukraine Nikolai Kniazhitsky
The procedure will not take much time, said people's deputy of Ukraine Nikolai Kniazhitsky in an interview with the “Ukrinform”.
“This can be done quickly. The transfer for use, especially of cultural value, is carried out on the basis of an agreement. Consequently, the other party must conclude an agreement either with the Cabinet of Ministers or with the Sofia of Kiev Museum. The mechanism will be determined by the Cabinet because it is in their jurisdiction,” the people's deputy explained.
He stressed that the transfer of cultural monuments of Ukraine is not "something unique". Kniazhitsky recalled that the state transferred the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra to the UOC and St. George's Cathedral of Lvov – to the UGCC.
On October 18, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported in its first reading a bill on the transfer of St. Andrew Church to the Constantinople Patriarchate.
