Cabinet of Ministry returns Pochaev Lavra to Kremenets-Pochaev Reserve

The Pochaev Lavra is again part of the Reserve

The decision was made during a government meeting today, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers cancelled order No. 438 “On the Exclusion of the Buildings of the Holy Dormition-Pochaev Lavra from the Kremenets-Pochaev State Historical-Architectural Reserve,” dated July 17, 2003, which had transferred the Dormition Cathedral, Holy Trinity Cathedral, monastic cells, the bishop’s house, the bell tower, and the gates from the reserve-museum to the monastery.

As reported earlier, on November 23, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine canceled the re-registration of buildings of the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra. Following the cancelation of the registration, the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Legal Department Protopriest Alexander Bakhov stated that the brethren could continue to use the buildings, despite the decision of the Ministry of Justice.
