The Holy See press service: Vatican did not recognize OCU

Ватикан

The news was published on the resource "VaticanNews", which is not the official website of the Holy See, the Directorate of the press service of the Holy See told “RIA Novosti”.

Earlier, the news portal VaticanNews (www.vaticannews.va) had reported the formation of the "new church" in Ukraine and the election of "Metropolitan" Epiphany as its leader.

“The only official portal of the Vatican is www.vatican.va, and the official news of the Holy See is published only in the Press Bulletin,” said the representative of the Directorate of the Vatican press service.

He stressed that VaticanNews should be considered a mass medium.

In turn, the UOC KP spokesman Eustraty Zoria reported on his Facebook page that the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church actually recognized the OCU: “In fact, this (news publication – Ed.) is a sign that because of the canonical recognition by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of the Ukrainian Church and its Metropolitan, this Church acquires subjectivity for the Vatican,” he wrote.

As the UOJ reported, the Apostolic Nunciature in Ukraine earlier refuted the statement of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry that "the Vatican respects the decision of the Ukrainian people regarding the creation of the Single Local Church".
