Volyn proponents of OCU seize church in vlg. Krasnovolia

In vlg. Krasnovolia, conflict broke out again around St. Michael’s Church

Volyn proponents of OCU seize church in vlg. Krasnovolia of the Manevichi district, Protopriest Oleg Tochinsky, a spokesperson for the Volyn eparchy of the UOC, reports on his Facebook page.

Proponents of the OCU did not allow the rector Fr. Andrei, as well as the ruling bishop, Abp. Nathanael of Volyn and Lutsk, into the church. In addition, as reported by Fr. Oleg, the activists, disrupting the service, brought the priest of the Kiev Patriarchate and declared him a new rector.

According to the head of the Manevichi Regional State Administration Andrei Lyndyuk, it was the locals who kept Abp. Nathanael out of the temple. “So, the last attempt to retain the community in the Russian Orthodox Church failed!" the official wrote on Facebook, adding that “if the Church has its own governing centre in Moscow, in particular in the Kremlin, then it must be directly said to people, and for those who want to serve or pray in such a Church, no one will interfere with them!”.

As reported earlier, on December 30, a group of activists, who had no relation to the UOC, arranged a “meeting” at St. Michael’s Church of the UOC and voted to move the OCU. The rector of St. Michael’s Church of the UOC in vlg.Krasnovolia of the Manevichi district Protopriest Andrei Genalyuk said that he would challenge the results of the illegitimate assembly in court.
