Expert: The only aim of creating OCU is a future Union

Political expert Vladimir Mulyk

The process of pressure on the Church will continue, even if it will not be declared, believes the conflictologist and political expert Vladimir Mulyk.

"The Orthodox parishes will continue to be seized calling them Russian," said the expert on air on the First Cossack channel. “Why is the Tomos created today? OCU, “holy church of Ukraine”, Tomos and so on – all this has been done for one purpose: it is a future union. In fact, I’m always in favor of the union – for a treaty, for an alliance but the one based on equal rights."

In his opinion, modern ecclesiastical processes in Ukraine prepare us for the union that "we have already had".

"Let us recall, when in a purely Orthodox city, the capital of Orthodoxy, Kiev, after the Maidan came (Catholics – Ed.), the expert continued. <..> And when these people put a Catholic statue of the Son of God in the center of the Maidan under the Stella of Independence, this was a symbol: we have won in the heart of Orthodoxy. Then it was quietly removed but in fact they checked whether it would cause a negative reaction with the Kievan people and the rest Orthodox public – well, it did not cause any."

Mulyk is convinced that this process will not stop until Ukrainians start thinking about what they betray, whom their ancestors prayed to.

"The words said by my father mean a lot to me: ‘Honor ‘Taras Bulba’ by Gogol – ‘I bore you and I'll kill you’, so you cannot betray anyone, you cannot sell either faith or family, you cannot do it just physically and mentally. Therefore, everyone should cultivate this idea in their brains: do not betray. And in order to understand what you betray, just look back, look at your families," summed up the political expert.

Recall that earlier at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Causes and Challenges of the Current Crisis of Inter-Orthodox Relations", two Athos monks made a report in which they called an ecclesiastical situation in Ukraine the advanced front of the struggle against the new Union.
