Vladimir Zelensky has met with Filaret

On April 30, 2019, Zelensky’s team reported on the meeting on Facebook.

The report says that Filaret “congratulated the newly elected head of state on his victory in the election and urged him to use the authority given to him to promote good and overcome evil. Then Patriarch Filaret presented a memorable gift to the newly elected president. Vladimir Alexandrovich thanked the Patriarch for the meeting and communication,” the press release reads.

As reported, the meeting was also attended by the deputy head of the UOC KP DECR Nikolai Salabai.

Earlier, on April 30, 2019, the meeting of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine with the newly elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Alexandrovich Zelensky took place in the Metropolitan’s residence in Feofania. At the meeting, the head of the UOC and the President of Ukraine discussed church issues.

On the same day, April 30, 2019, Vladimir Zelensky met with Epiphany Dumenko at the St. Michael Golden-Domed Monastery. During the meeting, Vladimir Zelensky and the head of the OCU discussed the conflict in the Donbass, corruption, and poverty.
