In Poland UOJ is given St. Konstanty Ostrogski Award
The award ceremony for the laureates of the St. Prince Konstanty Ostrogski Prize
On May 6, 2019, at The Holy Trinity Cathedral in the Polish city of Hajnówka, the “Union of Orthodox Journalists” news agency was awarded the diploma of the laureate of the St. Prince Konstanty Ostrogski Foundation Prize and a medal for its contribution to the development of Orthodox journalism and objective coverage of events in church life of Ukraine.
Eugeniusz Czykwin, head of the Foundation and editor-in-chief of “Przegląd Prawosławny” (“Orthodox Review”), presented awards to the UOJ representatives Anna Poddubnaya and Valery Stupnitsky.
According to the Committee of Prince Konstanty Ostrogski Awards, the Union of Orthodox Journalists was awarded the prize “for their efforts in the spiritual awakening of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the objective presentation of the religious situation of their country”.
The 30th award ceremony was held as part of the opening of the international festival “Hajnówka Days of Church Music”. This festival is held under the patronage of the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, with the blessing of the head of the Polish Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa.
This year, the St. Prince Konstanty Ostrogski Award was given to the following hierarchs, theologians and journalists: the head of the Albanian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Anastasios Yannoulatos of Tirana, Duress and All Albania, Swiss theologian Rev. Michel Quenot, Polish scholar and journalist Andrzej Romanowski and Polish journalist Jan Smyk.
The ceremony at the Holy Trinity Cathedral was attended by a number of deputies of the Polish Sejm, Belarusian Ambassador to Poland Vladimir Chusev, representatives of the Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The head of the presidential office Adam Kwiatkowski also made a welcoming speech on behalf of the President of Poland.
We recall that on February 5, the Polish Konstanty Ostrogski Foundation and the “Przegląd Prawosławny” (“Orthodox Review”) journal named the winners for 2018, among which was the Union of Orthodox Journalists.
