On June 18, 2019, representatives of the Ukrainian LGBT community recorded a video message to President Vladimir Zelensky, in which he was invited to the KyivPride Equality March to be held on June 23.
“Dear Mr. President, we support your position that a person is the greatest value for the state. On June 23, thousands of Ukrainian men and Ukrainian women will enter the Equality March with faith in the European future of our country. And will you, Mr. Vladimir, be the first Ukrainian president to participate in the Equality March to support human rights?” reads the statement.
As the UOJ reported, earlier All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations addressed the parties and candidates for MPs to clarify their position on issues of religious freedom, family values and public morality. At the meeting of the AUCCRO, which was held in Kiev on June 14, 2019, under the chairmanship of the RCC Bishop Vitaly Krivitsky, there was raised an issue of values of candidates to the Ukrainian Parliament.
