UOC Primate: One should help President put his good intentions into life

Ukrainians should help the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, to implement his good plans, said the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine on Ukraina television channel.

“We must unite and help the President to implement the good intentions he voiced as a candidate,” the Primate of the UOC called on his flock.

His Beatitude Onuphry emphasized that our state would rise, if law would be in effect, before which everyone would be equal.

At the same time, the Primate of the canonical Church mentioned that the UOC asks precisely about it and does not expect any special advantages for itself.

“Our Church does not ask for any preferences, any advantages. We ask that the law work and that everyone be equal before the law,” he explained.

In addition, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry called on believers on the eve of elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to remember the formula of Christian behavior and “give to God what is God’s, and to Caesar what is Caesar's”.

“A Christian must properly maintain this balance,” the Primate of the UOC said.

If there is an excess, there will be misfortune, he reminded.

Earlier, Metropolitan Luke (Kovalenko) of Zaporozhye and Melitopol also called on believers to carefully bear in mind their civic duty. He reminded the flock that in the elections we will all vote for the future of the Church. “I wish the future elected representatives of the people to fulfill their duty and not to forget the words of their oath, for it is said that "he who speaks a lie will perish". I wish all of us wisdom when we come to the polling stations to fulfill our civic duty, to remember that on July 21 we ourselves determine our future, the future of Ukraine and our Church,” noted His Eminence Luke.
