Primate of UOC takes part in the ceremonial meeting of Verkhovna Rada

On August 29, 2019, on the occasion of taking the oath by the newly elected MPs of Ukraine, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine took part in the ceremonial meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry was accompanied by the Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony of Borispol and Brovary.
It is reported that the ceremonial meeting of the Verkhovna Rada was attended by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, people's deputies of previous convocations, members of the Government, former presidents of Ukraine, other political figures, representatives of various faiths and religious and public organizations, the diplomatic corps, official foreign delegations.
The National Anthem of Ukraine, as well as the spiritual hymn of Ukraine “Prayer for Ukraine”, was performed by the choir in the session hall. The participants in the ceremonial meeting honored the defenders of Ukraine with a minute of silence.
During the meeting, MPs of Ukraine, who were elected in special elections on July 21, 2019, took the oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people.
It is worth noting that at a time when the guests present applauded the newly elected deputies, the hierarchs of the UOC made a sign of the cross and called upon them the blessings of God.
As reported earlier, according to the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky spoke from the heart at his inauguration.
