On November 22, 2019, a session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church will be held in Moscow, according to the “Church Today” Telegram-channel.

“A reaction is expected to the latest actions of the Patriarchate of Alexandria to recognize the OCU,” the message said.

As reported by the UOJ, on October 17, 2019, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church adopted a statement on the situation that developed in the Greek Orthodox Church after holding an extraordinary Council of Bishops on October 12, 2019, on the “Ukrainian church issue”. The members of the Synod decided to maintain prayer communion with those Greek bishops who spoke out against the recognition of the OCU but to cease it with those who recognized the newly created church structure in Ukraine.
