Supporting the fight against discrimination, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine undermines the moral basis of the educational process, believes the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (AUCCRO).

In this regard, the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations sent letters to the President and the Prime Minister of Ukraine, calling for the abolition of anti-discrimination expertise of textbooks and educational programmes because of its ideological bias, reports the official representative office of the AUCCRO.

According to the Council of Churches, the programme for publishers and authors' groups "Create non-discriminatory educational content" and the distance course programme "Andiscriminatory lenses: a projection on education", which train experts in the field, are of concern. The parent community also opposes anti-discrimination expertise of textbooks and educational programmes.

Religious figures have already addressed the Ministry with a list of specific comments to the expertise. In their opinion, the gender ideology on which the expertise is based tramples such social ideals as a full family with the father and the mother, marriage as a union of a man and a woman, and the religious identity of the Ukrainian people.

According to the Council of Churches, gender ideology is detrimental to any society since it replaces the notion of biological sex by several dozen genders on the principle of self-identification. Heads of Churches consider it especially dangerous for children.

"One of the priorities of state authorities today is to help strengthen the institution of the family, to disseminate constructive family values through education, and provide proper education for young people. The family, motherhood and fatherhood, natural male and female roles are the basic values of the Ukrainian people, the century-old heritage of the Ukrainian mental space," says the address of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches.

As reported earlier, Archpriest Gennady Batenko, the Deputy Head of the Synod Department for Medicine of the UOC, believes that sex education lessons in schools and kindergartens destroy the purity of children's souls.
