The Ukrainian blogger Alexander Voznesensky published evidence that it was the Phanar that pushed the Ukrainian authorities to ask Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople for the Tomos.
The video that the blogger posted on Facebook was filmed in 2015. In it, the head of the UOC in Canada (Patriarchate of Constantinople), Metropolitan Georgy (Kalishchuk) directly admitted that the Phanar was awaiting the appeal of the Ukrainian authorities with a request for autocephaly.
“The Tsargorod Patriarchate is waiting for a request from representatives of Ukrainian Orthodox jurisdictions here, and most importantly, it is expecting steps from the President of Ukraine so that he also expresses a desire for the Tsargorod Patriarchate to help in this situation,” said Metropolitan Georgy.
The bishop of the Patriarchate of Constantinople said that the Phanar was monitoring the situation in Ukraine and intended “to work so that Orthodoxy in Ukraine is united”.
“As you know, the Verkhovna Rada turned to Patriarch Bartholomew with a request for autocephaly in the summer of 2016. That is, it was the representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople one year before the appeal of the Ukrainian Parliament to Bartholomew who pushed parliamentarians and church leaders to this step,” Voznesensky concluded.
He stressed that Patriarch Bartholomew is lying when he justifies his interference in the religious life of Ukraine with the requests of the Ukrainian authorities and people.
“In fact, it was the Constantinople Patriarchate who personally initiated all these actions,” the blogger resumed.
We recall that earlier Patriarch Bartholomew said that the Phanar restored the canonicity of the entire Ukrainian nation.
