UOC prays for repose of the killed in Tehran crash

On January 8, 2020, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, performing the Divine Liturgy in the capital’s temple in honor of the Nativity of Christ, prayed for the repose of the dead Ukrainians in the UIA plane crash near Tehran. This was reported on the UOC Facebook page.
Also, according to the UOC press service on Facebook, special prayers for the dead were offered by Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, accompanied by Bishop Dionisy (Pilipchuk) of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and Bishop Ambrose (Vainagiy) of Zgurovka.
On the night of January 7-8, 2020, the Ukraine International Airlines plane crashed after taking off from the Imam Khomeini International Airport (Tehran). According to preliminary data, there are 11 citizens of Ukraine among the dead – 9 crew members and 2 passengers. A total of 176 people were onboard, all of them are considered dead.
As reported by the UOJ, the clergy of the Odessa diocese visited in hospitals and provided assistance with medicines and foodstuffs to victims of a large-scale fire at Odessa College of Economics, Law and Hotel-Restaurant Business.
