Primate of Polish Orthodox Church expresses support for UOC

On December 5, 2022, the Head of Mission of the UOC to European international organizations, Archbishop Victor of Baryshivka met with His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland, the Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church, reports the UOC Informational and Educational Department.
Archbishop Victor conveyed to His Beatitude brotherly greetings on behalf of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and expressed special gratitude to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry for large-scale spiritual support and material aid, which the Polish Orthodox Church provides to Orthodox citizens of Ukraine, who find themselves on the territory of the Republic of Poland as a result of Russian military invasion.
Participants in the meeting discussed recent developments in church life in Ukraine and in world Orthodoxy, exchanged views on the current state of state-faith relations in Ukraine and Poland, and raised issues of mutual concern.
During a long talk, Metropolitan Sawa recalled repeatedly warm meetings with Metropolitan Onuphry, which in his time took place in different places. Summing up, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland gave His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine assurances of constant prayer and brotherly support and wished him to continue to hold firmly the baton of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
As reported, on November 27, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, vicar of Kyiv Metropolis, Archbishop Victor of Baryshivka concelebrated Divine Liturgy to Archbishop Avel of Lublin and Chełm (the Polish Orthodox Church) at the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral of Lublin.
