The head of the UOC-KP, Filaret Denisenko, said that he supports the actions of the authorities “regarding the impossibility of the presence of the Moscow Patriarchate and its affiliated religious structures in Ukraine,” the official page of the “patriarch” says. In particular, we are talking about the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 820/2022.

Filaret Denisenko believes that “the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate has no right in the future to be simultaneously with Moscow and allegedly with the Ukrainian people. It must decisively and realistically break with the center, which is located in the aggressor country.” He also advised the UOC to "move towards complete independence".

The head of the UOC-KP also emphasized that “only the Patriarchate can be a real guarantee of the autocephaly of Ukrainian Orthodoxy, its free development from foreign religious centers.”

“I call on the Ukrainian authorities, the episcopate, the clergy, the faithful to continue the struggle for the emergence of a truly autocephalous united Ukrainian Orthodox Church and develop it in the status of a Patriarchate. The Ukrainian people, with their piety and self-sacrifice, deserved to have the Kyiv Patriarchate, which is to secure the proper place for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ecumenical Orthodoxy,” Filaret Denisenko emphasized.

As reported by the UOJ, in June 2022, the head of the UOC-KP invited His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry to meet and discuss preparations for the All-Ukrainian Council, at which “One Local Church” should be created.
