On April 3, 2020, Metropolitan Nikodim (Baranovsky) of Severodonetsk and Starobelsk of the UOC delivered 3,100 coronavirus tests to the Lugansk Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Severodonetsk Eparchy.

High-performance high-speed test systems (DialPlexQ ™ 2019-nCoV), which were transferred by the UOC, had been purchased earlier in Korea by Vadim Novinsky’s Charitable Foundation in honor of the Holy Protection of the Mother of God.

“The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is always together with Her people not only spiritually, but also where it counts, showing concrete actions,” said Metropolitan Nikodim. “Today, on behalf of Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and all Ukraine, we are transferring test systems that were purchased by the charity foundation. Together we will curb this disease. In addition, people should take heed of the quarantine measures introduced by the state.”

Sergei Gaidai, the head of the Lugansk Regional State Administration, who is also the head of the Regional Military-Civil Administration, thanked the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Bishop Nikodim for the assistance provided.

“The tests for the laboratory, which does PRL-studies for the coronavirus, will save time by establishing a diagnosis. Such help is crucial. These are thousands of tests that, if necessary, will be done in a timely manner to save lives of many people,” he stressed.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Chernivtsi also received 3,500 tests from the UOC to identify COVID-19.
