UOC publishes guidelines on combating COVID-19 for monasteries

The Synodal Department for Health and Pastoral Care of Medical Institutions of the UOC proposed medical recommendations on the organization of safety for monastics, clergy and laity during quarantine to the abbots and abbesses of the monasteries, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.
The department staff drew the attention of the abbots and abbesses to the importance of arranging the isolation ward on the territory of their monasteries.
The prepared guidelines can also be useful for church educational institutions or other church institutions of a social direction: orphanages, nursing homes, family-type orphanages.
The package of recommendations consists of three parts:
- Recommendations for abbots/ abbesses of the monastery having the infected with coronavirus in the monastery (they were published on April 15, 2020 – Ed.).
- The plan of anti-epidemic measures in the monastery when identifying a patient with SARS and/ or coronavirus infection among the monks.
- Requirements for a monastic isolation ward during the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic.
Earlier, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, the cleric of the UOC Rostislav Valikhnovsky gave 10 tips to combat COVID-19.
