On February 9, 2023, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church recognized the autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - the Archdiocese of Ohrid, reports basilica.ro.
The meeting chaired by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania was held at the Patriarchal Palace in Bucharest.
The Synod decided to name the new fraternal Church "The Archbishopric of Ohrid and North Macedonia with headquarters in Skopje", and its Primate – "His Beatitude Stefan, Archbishop of Ohrid, Skopje and North Macedonia".
The synodal decision also noted that the autocephaly of the Church of North Macedonia is recognized by virtue the Tomos issued by the Serbian Patriarchate on June 5, 2022.
As the UOJ previously reported, the Synod of the UOC included the name of the Primate of the Macedonian Church in the liturgical Diptych.
