On February 24, 2023, on the anniversary of the beginning of the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, with the blessing of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Onuphry, all churches and monasteries of the UOC will hold memorial services for those who died or were killed during the war and also hold prayers for defenders of Ukraine and members of their families, reports the UOC Information and Educational Department.
The relevant circular was sent by the Kyiv Metropolis to all the eparchial bishops on 21 February.
The document also states that "the clergy, monks and believers should spend this day in fasting abstinence”.
As earlier reported, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry urged the Russian authorities to stop killing Ukrainians.
