Parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church collected UAH 15 thousand for wounded Ukrainian soldiers who are undergoing treatment in Kyiv’s hospitals, Archpriest Petro Semashchuk, the initiator of the Сandlemas campaign, told the UOC Information Centre.

"Each person who came to the temple of the UOC on February 15, on the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ, and bought a candle, could put it in the temple not only for the health of their relatives and friends but also for the health of wounded soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Funds from its sale will be used for the treatment of the AFU wounded soldiers in the hospitals of Kyiv," he said.

The Candlemas charity event was held in Kyiv on February 15, the Feast of the Holy Encounter. The fundraising ended with a charity concert in the Silver Island Theatre on February 19, 2023.

This year, the National Philharmonic of Ukraine Folk Ensemble "Merry Musicians", People's Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Talashko, and Ukrainian pop singer Natalia Padalko performed on the stage of the theatre.

As reported, UOC volunteers delivered humanitarian aid to Liman and Toretsk.
