On March 3, 2023, the head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko, visited the Patriarch of Alexandria in Egypt, reports the OCU’s official website.

According to the OCU press service, Dumenko arrived in Cairo at the invitation of Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa.

Former UOC Metropolitan Simeon (Shostatsky) and "Metropolitan" Eustratius Zoria also arrived with the head of the OCU.

Dumenko was met at the airport in Cairo by Ukrainian Ambassador to Egypt Mykola Nahorny and his staff, as well as Metropolitan George of Guinea, the Patriarchate's representative in Athens and Metropolitan Nicodemus of Memphis, the Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo.

A solemn "liturgy" will be held at the Annunciation Cathedral on Sunday, March 5, to be led by Patriarch Theodore and Epifaniy Dumenko.

As earlier reported, the Prosecutor-General's Office of Ukraine launched criminal proceedings against Metropolitan Pavlo (Lebed), the abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, for calling Dumenko "self-ordained".
