Human rights ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets should refute his untrue statements about the UOC in which he accused the Church of "supporting war, occupation of Ukrainian lands and ties with Russia". A statement to this effect was published by the press service of the DECR.
The DECR stressed that Lubinets' statements about the UOC are untrue, discriminatory and do not correspond to reality.
It is noted in the document that the Church does not belong to Russia, all its governing bodies are located in Kyiv, and its activities are carried out under the leadership of His Beatitude Onuphry.
"We urge Mr Dmytro Lubinets to refute his untrue allegations against the UOC and also to inform the UN representatives – UN coordinator in Ukraine Denise Brown and head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Matilda Bogner," the Department for External Church Relations said.
As reported, the ombudsman told the UN representatives that the UOC "supports the war".
