On March 28, 2023, after the storming of the Ivano-Frankivsk Cathedral of the UOC, the secretary of the diocese, Archpriest Vasyl Romaniuk, was hospitalized unconscious, the diocese reported to the UOJ.

When Orthodox priests and laity read the akathist to the Mother of God, the assaulters broke into the cathedral, having previously sprayed tear gas. One of the storm participants sent a jet of gas straight at Fr. Vasily, after which he lost consciousness and fell. The priest was hospitalized. At the moment he is unconscious.

At the same time, representatives of the Ivano-Frankivsk diocese in the hospital were told that Father Vasily is a “faker”, viz. he is simulating a loss of consciousness. The priests were also accused of their adherence to the “Russian world” ideology.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that assaulters were poisoning people with gas in the cathedral of Ivano-Frankivsk.
