On March 29, 2023, the Diocesan Council of the Archdiocese of the Western European Parishes of the Russian Tradition published a communique regarding the situation around the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
The document says that “deeply shocked by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which has lasted for more than a year, the Diocesan Council of the Archdiocese of the Orthodox Churches of Russian Tradition in Western Europe would like to assure the monastic community and the Theological Academy of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra of its support and prayers during this difficult time, which they have to experience."
Trusting in God's mercy, in the intercession of Saints Anthony and Theodosius of the Kyiv Caves, and in the evangelical, spiritual and pastoral benevolence of Metropolitan Onuphry, let us appropriate these words of the Lord on the eve of His passions, towards which we are advancing: "May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me" (John 17:21),” wrote the Archdiocese of the Western European parishes of the Russian tradition.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Primate of the Polish Church supported the Kyiv theological schools.
