On April 5, 2023, the vicar of the Lviv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Bishop Jacob of Drohobych, commented on the seizure of St. George's Cathedral in Lviv, reports UOC Information and Education Department.

Vladyka stressed that Ukraine "is going to Europe, where human rights are valued and where everyone has the right to pray wherever he wants, as long as he wants and with whomever he wants’.

The hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church said that the Lviv Eparchy of the UOC will challenge in court the developments around St. George's Cathedral on April 5, 2023.

"We are for resolving any issue only in the legal field. We are against raiding and any takeover by force. We are against any resolution of issues by force," he stressed.

As reported, the authorities in Lviv took away the UOC cathedral.
