On April 14, 2023, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia called on the faithful to pray for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
In a video message on the occasion of the Holy Resurrection of Christ, Patriarch Porfirije noted that the faithful of the Serbian Church pray “for peace in Ukraine, for an end to trials and conflicts between brothers of the same faith and one blood, so that enmity and hatred are replaced by friendship and love.”
“Today we especially pray to the Risen Lord for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, its hierarchy and its faithful people, who are subjected to injustice, violence and persecution,” he stressed.
He recalled that “we all together, both when we suffer and when we rejoice, must never forget that the final answer and the key to life is in the words of Christ: ‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world’ (John 16:33).”
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Patriarch Porfirije condemned state terror against the UOC.
