Petition in defence of Kyiv Lavra gets required number of signatures

As of July 20, 2020, the Church's petition “To Leave the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in Use of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Reject Petition No. 22/092966-эп” has received 25,068 signatures. The document is published on the website of the President of Ukraine.

The authors of the petition appeal to President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky with a request not to allow the transfer of the Lavra to the OCU and not to break the agreement with the UOC on the monastery.

“We, the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, ask you, Mr. President, to prevent attempts to illegally seize the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and to reject petition No. 22/092966-эп, the purpose of which is to explicitly incite sectarian strife,” the appeal says.

There are seven days left until the deadline for collecting signatures, but the petition has already gained the number of votes necessary for its consideration by the Head of State.

As reported by the UOJ, a step-by-step video tutorial was published on the Web, which gives an entire algorithm of actions necessary to sign a petition to preserve the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in the use of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
