Police do not find quarantine violations during celebrations at Kyiv Lavra

The police did not find any quarantine violations during the celebration of the 1032nd anniversary of the Christianization of Rus’ at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The corresponding comment of the press-service of the Kyiv police on July 29, 2020, was published by the "Ukrainian News".

"The policemen were on the spot and did not record any quarantine violations," reports the press service.

At the same time, some Ukrainian media sources circulated information about gross violations of quarantine by UOC believers during the celebrations at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on July 28. In particular, that the UOC held a "cross procession in Kyiv, where people ignored quarantine rules", "the crowd of people were without masks and did not observe a safe social distance" and now "Ukrainians can expect a new wave of coronavirus".

Let's remind, with the blessing of the Primate of UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, because of a situation with a coronavirus epidemic celebrations of the 1032-anniversary of the Christianization of Rus’ passed with the observance of quarantine restrictions. The traditional All-Ukrainian Cross Procession was replaced by a prayer with a festive chime in all churches and monasteries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The participants of the festive worship service, which took place at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, were given free protective masks by the sisters of mercy and volunteers.
