A new paid service is available in Israel – a temporary residence permit in Ukraine, which allows Hasidim to enter Ukraine to celebrate Rosh Hashana despite restrictions due to the coronavirus lockdown. The mayor of Uman, Olexandr Tsebriy, announced this on his FB page.

The mayor said he had got a letter, which describes Israel proposing how to bypass the coronavirus ban on travel to Uman.

“I received a letter stating that in connection with the ban on the entry of pilgrims into the territory of Uman city for the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, announcements appeared in the Israeli press that one could obtain a “residence permit for $500 or an entry permit for 3 months for $330,” said Tsebriy.

A temporary residence permit in Ukraine gives the legal right to come to Ukraine regardless of the epidemiological situation. Registration price varies from 300 to 500 dollars.

The mayor announced that he considers such proposals to be manipulation and fraud and appealed to the State Migration Service. The Department has not yet made official statements.

As the UOJ reported earlier, the Hasidim had announced that they would perform their rituals on airplanes over Uman.
