Diocese of the West Opens Registration for 2026 Music Practicum
Registration is now open for the Diocese of the West’s 2026 Orthodox music training program in California.
SANTA ROSA, CA — The Orthodox Church in America's (OCA) Diocese of the West has opened registration for its 2026 Music Practicum, scheduled for July 20–24 at St. Seraphim Cathedral. The event will be held with the blessing and personal participation of Bp. Vasily and will take place alongside the OCA's Diaconal Liturgical Practicum.
The Music Practicum is designed for current choir directors and aspiring music leaders seeking to deepen their understanding of Orthodox liturgical music. Organizers said the program will include workshops in conducting, vocal technique, liturgical planning, and musical repertoire, all centered around daily divine services celebrated at the cathedral.
Experienced clergy, musicians, and educators from the Diocese of the West will lead the sessions. Instruction will be adapted to participants’ experience levels while fostering spiritual growth and excellence in church music ministry. Church leaders encourage interested participants to register early for the immersive summer program.
Previously, the UOJ reported that St. Tikhon’s Monastery named Juliana Woodill music program director.
