Boris and Gleb Church Destroyed by Russian Shelling
A church in Dar'ivka was destroyed after being struck during reported shelling in the Kherson region, with no casualties reported.
DAR'IVKA, UKRAINE — The Boris and Gleb Church in the village of Dar'ivka was reportedly struck and destroyed during shelling on June 26, 2026, amid ongoing military activity in the Kherson region. According to the Information and Educational Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), the incident occurred during strikes attributed to Russian forces.
Local church representatives, citing the press service of the Kherson Diocese, stated that two shells hit the structure of the church during the bombardment of the Dar'ivka territorial community. The impact resulted in the complete destruction of the building, which had served as a parish center for local Orthodox faithful.
The church, identified as the Boris and Gleb Church, was regarded as a local religious landmark within the community. Despite the destruction of the structure, no casualties were reported in connection with the strike, according to the same reports. Images and additional damage assessments have not yet been independently verified.
The incident adds to a continuing pattern of damage to religious sites in regions affected by the conflict, with local church authorities frequently documenting strikes impacting parish infrastructure and community worship spaces.
