Patr. Theophilos III Receives Archbishop of Canterbury in Jerusalem
The Archbishop of Canterbury’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land concluded with meetings at the Jerusalem Patriarchate and an address to Church leaders on the final day of the visit.
JERUSALEM — On 24 June 2026, His Beatitude Patr. Theophilos III received the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally, together with the Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem, Hosam Naoum, and a visiting delegation. The meeting took place in the context of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The visit was part of a five-day pilgrimage to Israel and Palestine led by the Archbishop of Canterbury at the invitation of Abp. Hosam Naoum. The journey included travel across Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, and Birzeit, along with meetings with church leaders, congregations, and visits to holy sites throughout the region.
During the final day of the pilgrimage, the Archbishop of Canterbury addressed the Heads of Churches in Jerusalem on 24 June 2026 at the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem. She described the visit as a journey of listening, solidarity, and reflection on the realities faced by Christian communities, particularly Palestinian Christians living amid economic hardship, insecurity, and political tension.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Patr. Theophilos III and Cardinal Pizzaballa made a pastoral visit to Gaza.
