Metropolitan Luke to Lavra defenders: You protect each of us

Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol

Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol expressed support for the believers who are defending the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. A video of the bishop's address was posted by the blogger Pramykha on his Instagram page.

"You think that by protecting the Lavra, you are protecting a building, but in reality, you are protecting the Mother Church," the Metropolitan said.

The bishop of the UOC added that no one among the people living on Earth could throw a stone at their own mother's face, which is why Orthodox believers stand guard over their Church.

"Today, you are protecting each of us. I wish you God's help. We are with you in spirit, although we can’t come to you, we simply are not allowed to do so," Bishop Luke noted.

As reported, Metropolitan Luke stated that the audacity with which the authorities are trying to turn the Lavra into a museum will have terrible consequences for future generations.
