On May 29, 2023, MPs supported the appeal to the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy and the parliaments of its member states, in which they called for the exclusion of the Russian Federation from the organization. This was announced in his Telegram channel by the MP from the "Holos" Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

254 parliamentarians voted for the relevant resolution.

In their appeal, the parliamentarians said that the Russian Federation intends to use the platform of the organization to cover up its military aggression, crimes and the intention to destroy Ukrainian statehood.

The Verkhovna Rada noted that Ukraine had to refuse to participate in the 30th anniversary session of the General Assembly due to the presence of the Russian Federation in the organization.

MPs also called for the suspension of the powers of the current president of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy – the representative of the Russian Federation, Sergei Gavrilov.

As the UOJ reported, the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy assessed the Ukrainian schism.
