On May 29, 2023, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl performed a prayer service near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Human rights activist Viktoria Kokhanovska published footage from the prayer service on her Telegram channel.

The hierarch came to the Lavra after a meeting in the Solomensky Court of Kyiv, where he was extended a measure of restraint in the form of round-the-clock house arrest.

Metropolitan Pavel talked with the monks of the Lavra and the parishioners of the Church. The hierarch told the details of his criminal case and invited the monks of the monastery to his home for worship.

Vladyka also thanked the monks for their loyalty to the UOC and urged them to continue to adhere to the Church, no matter what.

As reported by the UOJ, the court extended the house arrest to the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
