The Solomensky District Court of Kyiv extended the measure of restraint in the form of round-the-clock house arrest to the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel, for two months. It is reported by Strana.

The court ordered Metropolitan Pavel to wear an electronic bracelet and forbade him to leave his place of residence in the village of Voronkiv, Kyiv region, around the clock until August 31, 2023.

During the court session, Metropolitan Pavel stated that representatives of the SBU and the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve offered him to cooperate with the investigation.

“I was told that if I did not oppose Epifaniy and supported the transition of the monks of the Lavra to the OCU, all cases against me would be closed,” he said.

As the UOJ reported, the Lavra’s abbot appealed to the Ombudsman's Office because of the violation of a number of his rights.
