Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations, believes that LGBT propaganda is turning the Western world into a kingdom of crooked mirrors, reports the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Commenting on the decision of the American Film Academy, according to which all films that qualify for the Oscar must meet gender, race and LGBT standards, the ruler said that "this is an attempt to once again impose on artists the rules of political correctness, which the West lives today”.
In his opinion, these rules are that "there should be equality between men and women, and it is not just a question of equality in social rights, it is essentially a question of levelling the concepts of man and woman".
"Nowadays, the man and the woman in the West are perceived not as something that is given to people by God but as something that a person chooses for themselves. You can be a woman but call yourself a man, or you can transform yourself into a man. And it is not just your right but also the duty of all those around you to recognize this right. It is enough to say: I am not a female but a male, I am not Catherine, but, say, Ivan Petrovich, and everyone around will have to recognize it, call you accordingly and pretend that you are really a male. Life in such conditions turns into some kingdom of crooked mirrors," emphasized the hierarch.
According to Vladyka Hilarion, "if Western cinematography follows the path that now they want to let it go, in the end, it will turn into a kingdom of crooked mirrors, too, and it is already gradually turning into it because the ideology of political correctness, the propaganda of unnatural vices, the propaganda of the LGBT community – all this is already present in Western cinematography, but now it will be not just a tribute to fashion, and this is what distributors will require film producers should do".
As earlier reported, in Russia Netflix children's animated series were rated 18+ due to LGBT content.
