On 19 July 2023, Prosecutor Eugene Zavistovsky filed an appeal against the decision of the Solomyansky Court of Kyiv, by which the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Metropolitan Pavel was imprisoned in a pre-trial detention centre with the possibility of bail in the amount of 33 million 330 thousand hryvnias, reports the abbot’s lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman on his Telegram-channel.

"Probably, the prosecutor found the bail amount too small, or he didn't like that his demand to prohibit Metropolitan Pavel from visiting the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and all other UOC temples was not met in case of bail. It will be very interesting to get acquainted with another 'act of cynicism' by our valiant law enforcers," wrote the lawyer.
As reported, Metropolitan Pavel said that SBU officers repeatedly threatened him with a criminal case if there is no recognition of the OCU.
