The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Ukrainian authorities will raise the issue of the destruction of Orthodox churches by Russia at the upcoming UN Security Council meeting.
The Ukrainian authorities have expressed concern about the destruction of Ukrainian Orthodox churches by Russia, tweeted the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, on July 23, 2023.
According to him, "Russia has been systematically destroying the Orthodox Church in Ukraine and its premises. The latest is today’s strike on Odesa’s Transfiguration Cathedral." As an example, Kuleba cited the strike on the Transfiguration Cathedral of the UOC in Odesa. However, he did not specify the religious affiliation of the temple.
"We will raise this at the next UNSC meeting on Ukraine to make it clear: Russia is the only threat to Ukraine’s Orthodoxy," said the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As earlier reported, according to a source in the parliament, the authorities may pass a bill to ban the UOC in the coming days.
