The reserve openly stated that after the litigations, they intend to expel the brethren of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra from their cells. Archpriest Nikita Chekman, the lawyer of the Lavra, announced this on his telegram channel.

“In today's court session (August 9 – Ed.), the reserve confirmed the fact that it intends to evict the monks. Previously, they avoided this issue in every possible way as if they do not want to evict the monastery, the question remains open, etc. However, today the reserve has directly said – if the claim is satisfied, they will evict the monks. And letters are already coming from the reserve that they want to seal some buildings, evict people, without waiting for the court decision to come into force,” the lawyer said.

He stressed that “the fate of the UOC depends on us. We must unite, pray to God and protect the shrine of the Ukrainian people through our actions in this difficult time.”

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the UOC protested against the intentions of the Ministry of Culture to seal the buildings of the Lavra.
