Primate of UOC officiates Liturgy at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

On 27 August 2023, the day of commemoration of St. Theodosius of the Caves, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine officiated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

The Primate celebrated the Liturgy at the Church of St. Agapitus of the Caves. His Beatitude was concelebrated by Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Metropolitan Joasaph of Vasylkiv, Archbishop Damian of Fastiv, Bishop Laurus of Irpin, Bishop Mark of Borodianka, Bishop Theodosy of Ladan and the clergy of the monastery.

After the reading of the Holy Gospel, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrн addressed the faithful with a word of sermon.

During the service prayers for peace in the Ukrainian land were offered. The Primate asked for God's mercy to the Ukrainian people, that the Lord would make the authorities wise, strengthen the soldiers’ courage, release the captives, heal the sick and shelter those who lost their homes.

After the dismissal, the Primate congratulated the flock on Sunday and the day of commemoration of one of the founders of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, St. Theodosius of the Caves, and blessed the faithful.
