In connection with the introduction of weekend quarantine, the two main temples of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays, reports the press service of the monastery.
The Assumption Cathedral and the Church of the Monks Anthony and Theodosius (the Refectory Church) will be closed at the weekend as they are located on the territory of a state reserve.
Divine services will be held only in churches on the lower territory of the Lavra, the monastery noted. A detailed schedule of services will be available on the Lavra website on Saturday afternoon.
In addition, from November 16 to December 15, the central entrance under the Trinity Gate Church will be closed due to restoration work.
“It will be possible to enter the territory of the Upper Lavra from the bottom of the monastery through the Assumption (Cave) Gate or from above from Lavrskaya Street through the Economic Gate (All Saints’ Church at the end of Lavrsky Lane). This applies both to the visitors of the Pechersky Reserve and to the parishioners of the Lavra who come to the services at the Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church on weekdays,” explained the situation in the monastery.
As reported, the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers said that the government cannot close churches without introducing a state of emergency.
